WordPress Development Project

Cloud9 was contracted to provide a complete rebrand and develop a fully accessible WordPress website for AWARE (Association of Whistler Area Residents for the Environment), a longstanding environmental advocacy organization established in 1989. The comprehensive project included creating a new visual identity that reflects their mission of “Strengthening Resilience. Igniting Action. Defending Nature.” alongside developing a WCAG-compliant website that effectively communicates their 35+ years of environmental protection work.

The accessible website needed to showcase their three core focus areas—conservation, climate action, and circular economy—while highlighting their significant community impact, partner relationships, and ongoing advocacy efforts. The platform serves diverse audiences, including community members, environmental advocates, potential donors, and policymakers.

About AWARE

AWARE (Association of Whistler Area Residents for the Environment) has been at the forefront of environmental protection in Whistler for over 35 years, protecting the resort community’s irreplaceable natural landscape through advocacy on conservation, climate action, and circular economy practices. With a small but impactful team, AWARE has achieved remarkable results, including protecting thousands of hectares of wildland and wetland zones, engaging youth in climate action programs, diverting significant waste from landfills through their Zero Waste Heroes services, and operating GROW Community Gardens & Greenhouses.

Supported by hundreds of members and philanthropic partner,s including the Resort Municipality of Whistler, Whistler Community Foundation, and Vail Epic Promise, AWARE develops evidence-based solutions to environmental challenges while connecting residents and visitors to environmental initiatives through events, workshops, and community programs that promote sustainable practices and circular economy solutions.
